Dr. Chester is going to Washington, D.C. with an agenda for THE PEOPLE, not the powerful.
Dr. Chester’s Prescription
For better health for District 5
“My experience as owner of New Town Pharmacy
is what made me run for Congress. I saw the daily life-and-death
struggles of my patients on one side of the healthcare system; and on the other
side, I saw an industry making billions in profits pushing policies that made
it harder for my patients to get the care they needed. I know first-hand how
broken the system is. And I know the system will not change until we reject the
career politicians who protect it and elect more everyday professionals like
you and me to Congress. As Congressman for District 5, I will fight for better
health for the people of our District: for their physical health, their economic
health, their social health, their health holistically.”

physical health
Legislate a pathway to Medicare-for-all and expand care for mental health
Lower prescription drug prices by reforming the “middle man” between pharmaceutical companies, insurers and retail pharmacies
Improve health and sustainability by supporting farming in District 5 (including small and family farms, community gardens, and indoor agriculture) with programs and partnerships that connect growers to resources and customers
Champion policies that combat climate change; improve the resilience of our communities; protect our air, land, rivers, lakes, wildlife and forests for all to enjoy; and improve upon local Brownfield sites (most of Baker, Columbia and Hamilton are Brownfields)
Secure our national defense by encouraging spending levels that maintain our military edge but that also allow for greater domestic spending, including reforming the VA; improve public safety by supporting measures that can protect people from gun violence
Economic Health
Push Congress to take action to save Social Security, which is set to run out of money in 2035
Push to increase support for small businesses and make it more assessable to them, versus using them as a foil for benefits to multi-million and -billion-dollar companies
Ensure federal support and personal involvement in making the Economic Plan to Improve Communities (EPIC Plan) a reality
Strike the right balance between having a strong social safety net on one hand & on the other hand reforming big business to bring back greater incentives for work, including by strengthening unions
Push Congress to resolve the migrant crises at the United States’ southern border with compassionate border policies and help the construction and agricultural industries by passing comprehensive immigration reform
Social Health
Close gaps by investing more in education (specifically, pay raises for teachers, early childhood education, support for HBCUs, and cancelling student debt)
Strengthen communities, repair lives, and eliminate excessive and unnecessary spending through criminal justice reform & in turn invest heavily in affected communities
Increase support for programs that provide the range of services to benefit Senior Citizens
Make great progress on Civil Rights, promote gender equality and reproductive rights, strengthen human rights, and establish affordable housing as a right
Modernize the American citizens’ individual liberties, Constitutional protections, and personal freedoms to transcend growing threats of technology, data, hacking, surveillance, artificial intelligence, disinformation and election interference
